Kenyan, Ethiopian Runners Triumph at London Marathon
Kenya's Amos Kipruto and Ethiopia's Yalemzerf Yehualaw emerged victorious at the 2022 London Marathon on Sunday, October 2nd. In the men's race, Kipruto crossed the line in a time of 2:04:39, while Yehualaw won the women's race in a time of 2:17:25, overcoming a heavy fall earlier in the race.
Kipruto's victory marks his second major marathon win of the year, following his triumph at the Tokyo Marathon in March. The 30-year-old broke away from the leading pack in the final miles of the London Marathon, gradually extending his lead to secure the victory. Yehualaw, meanwhile, showed incredible resilience in recovering from her fall to claim her first major marathon title. The 23-year-old Ethiopian fell heavily around the 15-mile mark but remarkably regained her footing and surged past her rivals to take the win.
