Infineon Opens New Factory in Malaysia
Infineon Continues Expansion in Asia
Factory to Strengthen Infineon's Position as Global Leader
After recently announcing plans to cut or relocate 2,800 jobs, Infineon Technologies AG is investing an additional 5 billion euros in a new 200mm Power Fab silicon wafer fabrication facility in Kulim, Malaysia. The new factory will strengthen Infineon's position as a leading global supplier of semiconductor solutions and is expected to create hundreds of new jobs in the region.
The new factory will be Infineon's first in Malaysia and is expected to begin production in 2024. The facility will produce power semiconductors, which are used in a wide range of electronic devices, including smartphones, computers, and electric vehicles.
Infineon's investment in Malaysia is part of the company's broader strategy to expand its manufacturing footprint in Asia. The company already has factories in China, South Korea, and Taiwan.
